Very relevant and interesting thinking. I was recently reading the book the art of war by sun tzu the chinese author and I have also read a lot about Chattrapati Shivaji Maharajs military campaigns and all the chapters in the book by Sun Tzu seemed to be picked up from Shivajis campaigns. The article above also describes the dual thinking Shivaji had in his campaigns. He once launched an attack on Shaistakhan a Mughal commander who had come in to pune with a 100,000 army and here most would assume that an attack on the top commander would be out of question and Shivaji did precisely that. An attempt to assassinate Shaistakhan, the attempt failed with Shaistakhan loosing three fingers, but he left Pune within two weeks to take command in Bengal province. Similar was the case with Afzalkhan who anticipated meeting a scared enemy and instead he lost his life and the battle at pratapgad. Same with his escape from Aurangzebs house arrest in Agra, he feined to be in dire health conditions and then fled from the house arrest with his entire entourage which had gone to Agra.
